A Word about
Upstares Salon was started in 1986 in two small rooms, shared by two stylists and a pair of cats. Overlooking downtown Royal Oak, this 1920 street car/bus station was slowly converted into a fully functioning salon. Several walls removed and several stylists added, Upstares Salon has become everything discerning patrons expect from an Aveda salon.
What makes Upstares truly unique is the warmth one feels at the top of the stairs. A chandeliere hangs in the waiting room over antique chairs, one with a sleeping cat on it. Upstares stylists, some who've been here over fifteen years, work in front of fabulously ornate mirrors. They combine a client's personal needs with the skills to create a current look that is new and fresh. The staff has been trained by some of today's industry leaders. They're aware of beauty trends seen in New York, London, and other fashion centers of the world.
We hope to show you the view from Upstares Salon soon.
